Engagement sessions are one of the easiest ways to get to know a couple. Its the first opportunity to pose them, see what works and what doesn’t. I have started offering a complimentary engagement session with my upper tier wedding packages. Its a great thing for couples to take advantage of. It allows me to photograph you and figure out what works best, so that on your wedding day every image is more stunning than the first.
Colleen and Jonathon met on the side of the road. If you think I am joking this is straight from Colleen, “We met on the side of the road (literally)”. A chance meeting that has them together for the past 2 and 1/2 years, and them in front of the lens. Reading over their wedding info sheet is making me more and more excited for there day. It looks like it is going to be a BIG family fun affair. You can now connect this couples playful attitude during the shoot to what is going to transpire on their big day.
I have Colleen and Jonathon meet me at Fort Zachary Taylor for their engagement session. It offered us a lot of room to work with. Even though we were at the beach, we were able to avoid the cliche beach pictures. Its one of the biggest requests that I get, and I dont complain about it one bit. Neither does my camera gear! We started off seeing how the greenery would work with the two of them, which is going to be important not just in this engagement session, but at their wedding. They have chosen the Audubon House and Gardens for their venue, and its going to be in full bloom!
I was able to see how natural light worked with the couple, but also how using supplemental fill lighting affected their skin tones and many other things. All in all a great success at this engagement session. Definitely looking forward to September for their big day!
