ISLAND INSPIRED RUSTIC BEACH WEDDING AT FORT ZACHARY TAYLOR IN KEY WEST, FL

Key West is a magical place.  It’s a place filled with interesting characters, sentimental places, and a magic that just seems to make people smile.  Over the years couples have come to Key West to visit on vacation, ultimately coming here to live, or work, or both and get married.  Sometimes they meet outside of Key West, but then other meet in Key West, just like Katie and Joshua.

When couples look for wedding photography they look for a photographer who suits them.  The photographer will be someone who is calm, creative, and someone the couple feels like they can be around for 8 hours in one day.  They are looking for the guest who they didn’t invite to their wedding, but they are damn glad that guest showed up!  That’s pretty much what I want my photography to invoke.  A wedding guests inside view of this intimate, historical day.  Sort of a historical viewpoint and representation of events for two families, on the day that they become one family.

Katie and Joshua are two fun loving souls.  A couple who met in Key West, fell in love in Key West AND got married in Key West.  I call it a trifecta of sorts.  When you look at these two you are given hope in this world.  They show you the true love that books right of.  You could see it all day when these two looked at each other.  From the moment Joshua locked eyes with Katie as she walked down the sandy aisle at Fort Zachary Taylor, to the tears that rolled down his face as she vowed her love for him in front of friends and family.

The couple incorporated all kinds of elements from the cultures of the Florida Keys.  She arrived on her fathers Fire Dept Jeep Fire Truck, a Junkanoo band lead the wedding guests from the ceremony to the reception, and party band Patrick & The Swayzee’s rocked everyone to the late night.

This is what weddings are to me.  Not some big hoopla over a bunch of meaningless details.  It’s a representation of the couple, their friends celebrating, and two people who are so madly in love.  They require no direction, they are just present.  When that happens, so does Weddings and Magic and More!!
