Lori+ Adam’s Winter Mountain Wedding

When you think of weddings in the Great Smoky Mountains or Western North Carolina, you think Spring through Fall.  That’s when most of my weddings in Asheville, North Carolina occur. Lori and Adam decided to go against the norm, and opted for an early December wedding in Gatlinburg, because of Lori’s love of Christmas lights.

I was lucky enough to work with Lori and Adam in the Fall of 2021 for their engagement photos.  We spent a nice summer afternoon in Cades Cove, where we got to know each other, and escaped some bear photobombers!  It was important for their day, because we built rapport with each other.

When the wedding came around, everything fell into place.  I showed up a bit early to take in the view.  Mount LeConte which is one of the famous peaks of the Great Smoky Mountains towered in the background on a perfectly clear day.  The setup was intimate, and exactly what they looked for.

Lori was able to have her veil in full effect because of the lack of wind, although she did not know it would get caught on the ground.  That gave us a few good laughs.  Adam also was very particular about his sand from the sand ceremony.

After the ceremony we headed to a local restaurant for an early dinner and some cake.  We used the Christmas lights for some foreground elements, and then took a quick little drive into Gatlinburg so that we could get some Christmas light photos for Lori.
