HEMINGWAY HOUSE WEDDING: CAPTURING LOVE IN A HISTORIC KEY WEST VENUE

Hello, I’m Michael Freas, a professional photographer with an unquenchable passion for destination wedding photography. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless love stories across various locales.

Yet, one place truly stands out – the Hemingway House in Key West.

The Hemingway House is not just another wedding venue; it’s a remarkable piece of history wrapped in unparalleled beauty. With its Spanish Colonial architecture, lush tropical gardens, and stunning view of the Key West lighthouse, the Hemingway House offers a unique backdrop for your wedding photos.

But what makes a Hemingway House wedding so unique? The aura of the place – a blend of history, elegance, and natural beauty- lends itself beautifully to every picture. Every corner of the house tells a story, and as a photographer, my job is to weave your love story into this grand narrative.

One of my favorite Hemingway House weddings was that of Keeshia + Joseph. It rained that night, but everyone made the most of it and embraced it.  Papa Hemingway would of been proud.

Another memorable wedding was Jaylin + Andrew’s garden ceremony, where the romantic overcast that day provided a dreamy ambiance.

I love playing with natural light and shadows when shooting at the Hemingway House. The way the sunlight filters through the foliage creates a stunning effect, adding depth and character to the photos. I also love using the house’s unique features as elements in the composition, be it the antique chandeliers or the rustic wooden staircase.

For those planning a Hemingway House wedding, here are a few tips:

  1. Utilize the Golden Hour: The hour before sunset, known as the ‘Golden Hour’, offers the best natural lighting for photos.
  2. Embrace the Venue’s Character: Use the unique features of the Hemingway House to add a touch of charm and uniqueness to your photos.
  3. Hire Local Vendors: Local vendors know the venue inside out and can provide invaluable insights to help make your day perfect.
