Fort Zachary Taylor Wedding on the beach with a fun party in the fort!

I think we can all agree that 2020 has been a year for books. In some ways, it’s felt like a book we’d like to chuck out the window, but in other ways, the book took a turn and surprised you in all the best ways.

That’s exactly what happened with Angela and Danny, who had to reschedule their wedding that was initially supposed to be in spring. They moved the party to August, and the day turned out to be everything they were hoping for and more.

The weather in Key West is pretty predictable in August (HOT), but this day had a little surprise with some crazy clouds and rain showers in the distance, which kept the breezes flowing and the clouds moving across the skyline, which made for some freaking EPIC bride and groom photos.

Weddings at Fort Zachary Taylor

I’ve made no bones about my love for Ft Zachary Taylor as a wedding venue. It was the first place I photographed a wedding, and it’s once of the out of the way places I favor for engagement sessions, too.

Every time I come here, I discover something new. I love how raw and open it is, I love the history, and I love how every single wedding couple makes this place their own. It’s a raw canvas, a blank slate, and anything you add to it looks great.

I don’t think there’s any wedding venue in town that gives you this type of variety photographically, and I aim to take advantage of every part of it.  From the ocean to the brick walls that have stood the test of time, hurricanes, and everything else that has been thrown at it.

Get married by the sea, get your photos in a field, and then party it up in a real Fort? Yes, please! If you’re looking for a unique venue in Key West, definitely give the Fort a look.

Angela and Danny did it UP!  From the weathered farm tables that looked amazing for dinner to the purple uplighting inside the fort, it felt so good to see people love and laugh again.

This year has been a tough one for wedding vendors, venues, and couples, for sure. But Angela and Danny and their friends didn’t let the start of their forever wait any longer than it had to be, while still keeping it small and safe.

I was so glad to be part of your celebration, and cheers to many happy years ahead!
