You know that one time? That one time when you had a really good time? I’ll be saying that about Caro and Chad’s kickass Playa Largo Resort wedding in Key Largo, Florida. It was a celebration in the Florida Keys for a bunch of Keys Rats. I’m still wanting to know more about this secret society months after the wedding….
We started the weekend out for their Florida Keys wedding at Skippers Dockside. It was a gathering of their closest 150 friends and family. It was shoulder to shoulder, but man was their some laughter. This was the first look at what the wedding was going to be like. The energy was already on a high note, with the wedding the following day.
We woke up the next morning to a beautiful Florida Keys day for a wedding. Blue sky, a slight tropical breeze, low humidity. This is what us locals call paradise (Thanks Steve!) We arrived to a very calm, relaxed bridal suite. The kids were having fun playing with their food, the awesome Christian Fernandez and myself laid out our plan. The two of us just mesh, and we flow. Its a great team we have formed. We decided to use elements of the home and get a little crazy with the dress. I’m always a bit afraid to hang them in difficult places, but the images that come are worth the stress. We just sat back and documented the family, until it was time for the first look.
Carolina had shown me an area earlier in the day that she really liked when they walked the property, and she was on the money. It gave myself, Christian, Filip all places to hide so that we could get many angles of the first look. We hung out in the garden area of Playa Largo for some couples photos prior to the ceremony.
The ceremony was intimate. How is that possible with 325 people? Easy…they care so deeply for their friends that they are present, and in the moment. Im a firm believer that Caro and Chad even forgot everyone was there. I was able to just watch their eyes speak to each other and grab those moments, immortalize them.
The reception was one for the books. 4 hours of non stop, 4 on the floor, dancing. The latin sounds filled the air, while the sweat filled the floor. At no single point did I notice a dancefloor lacking of people. My team mingled, we danced, and we were in the right spots to really grab some solid moments. The night ended with a Junkanoo band leading everyone out. Every face was smiling. The best way to end a night, and another amazing experience for this Florida Keys wedding photographer.
